Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you'll be transferred to your hotel in Moshi for check-in and rest. After settling in, meet your mountain guide for a pre-trek briefing and equipment check. Use this day to relax, acclimate to the altitude, and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Begin your trek at Marangu Gate after registering with the park authorities. Hike through dense rainforests rich with plant and birdlife as well as the chance to spot colobus monkeys. The trail leads to Mandara Hut, where you will have dinner and spend the night. Optional short hikes to Maundi Crater provide stunning views of northern Tanzania and Kenya.
The trail ascends out of the rainforest into the moorland zone. Enjoy views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks on clear days as you trek through rolling hills covered in giant heathers. Overnight at Horombo Hut with breathtaking views of the mountain and the vast landscape below.
Today's climb traverses the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. The terrain becomes more barren and resembles a lunar landscape. Rest and prepare for the final ascent at Kibo Hut, with an early dinner and early bedtime in anticipation of a midnight summit attempt.
Begin the summit push just after midnight, trekking steeply through scree and rocky paths under starlit skies. Reach Gilman’s Point (5,685m) at sunrise, followed by Stella Point (5,756m), and finally the summit at Uhuru Peak – the highest point in Africa. After capturing unforgettable moments at the summit, descend to Kibo Hut for a short rest and continue to Horombo Hut for an overnight stay.
Descend back to Marangu Gate through the scenic landscapes of moorland and rainforest. Upon arrival, collect your summit certificate and celebrate your accomplishment with your team. Transfer back to Moshi for a well-deserved rest at your hotel.
